So it's 2019, and you want to play a game that's 12 years old. No problemo, this is PC gaming we're talking about, and in a community centered around PC gaming, we can make our own remasters. Enter my remaster (link to page here), in a thread where i'm going to selfishly promote a package that i've made personally by merging some of the best mods aimed specifically at three aspects:
- Call Of Chernobyl Addons
- Call Of Chernobyl Addons Overwriting Video
- Call Of Chernobyl Addons Overwriting Time
- Fix bugs
- Massively improve the graphics
- Keep things vanilla and close to what the developers envisioned.
Credit goes to all the creators out there who made these mods:
- Zone Reclamation Project - Bugfixes
- Original Weapons Renewal 3 for SOC - better weapon textures/animations
- Photo Realistic Zone 2.1 - HD textures for environments/creatures
- Shadow of Chernobyl HD Models Addon - MUCH higher polygon models for humans. (released this year!)
Aditional mods used - custom ENB settings.
What i did was take all the mods listed above and merge them together into one tightly knit package that's flawless in its stability and easy to add (drag 'n drop).
Purpose of this package
The purpose of this package is a desire to share with the community what i think is a fantastic way to experience the game - it's purely vanilla, but with vastly improved graphics. This is practically a complete remaster of the game's visuals.
Preparation before adding the mod
![Call Of Chernobyl Addons Overwriting Call Of Chernobyl Addons Overwriting](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123759502/600873580.jpg)
- After installing Shadow of Chernobyl, run the game at least once. Before adding anything, you need to start the game at least once after installing it.
- Make sure that the render is set to Full Dynamic Lightning. If you see it at 'Static Lightning', change it to 'Full Dynamic Lightning'. Save and exit. Enter the game again just to make sure it's set to 'Full Dynamic Lightning'. Once you're sure, exit.
- There's a file called 'fsgame.ltx' in the main game directory. Open it with notepad, make sure that the game_data line is set to 'true', for example:
$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata
How to install
- Extract the zip file.
- Simply copy - paste the contents of the 'XpressTuning' folder into the main game directory folder.
- Replace everything if required.
How to install (alternative*)
- Extract the zip file.
- In the XpressTuning folder you've extracted, there are three folders - 'bin', 'diffs' and 'gamedata'. Delete 'd3d9_smaa.dll' from the 'bin' folder.
- Move the 'diffs' and 'gamedata' folders into the main game directory folder.
- Move the 'injector.ini' and 'd3d9.dll' files from XpressTuning's 'bin' folder into S.T.A.L.K.E.R's 'bin' folder (the 'bin' folder should be located in the main game directory folder)
- Now, move the remaining contents of XpressTuning's 'bin' folder into the main game directory folder.
And lastly,
- Open 'enbseries.ini'. At [PROXY], disable both 'EnableProxyLibrary' and 'InitProxyFunctions' by changing the value from 'true' to 'false'. Also delete 'd3d9_smaa.dll' from 'ProxyLibrary' and leave it blank. Save and exit.
![Overwriting Overwriting](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123759502/455734793.png)
*The alternative instructions to install should be followed if the first set of instructions do not properly apply the ENB !
Alternative download links (Google Drive): Standard Version|Non-ENB Version
The absolute best way to experience the game.
Recommended difficulty: Master. This is the most balanced difficulty level, and the way the game was designed to be played. Lowering the difficulty level results in weapons being far less accurate and doing less damage, which isn't good because that applies for both you and the enemies; as well as making AI less intelligent. Makes the game much more frustrating because it's not fun dumping a boat load of ammo. 'Master' difficulty is what the game is meant to be played in.
Turn off the crosshair. In the Options menu, select the 'Game' tab and make sure that 'Show Crosshair' and 'Dynamic Crosshair' are disabled. They're ugly and big, plain and simple, it's much better to have them off rather than clutter the screen.

This version of the mod is now obsolete, grab the improved version from ModDB. It comes in two variants:
I added some extra addons and some tweaks, it is much more refined in general. It is currently being authorised by the mods, but you should be able to download it soon. (Everything below is outdated, you can find the new details and description on the ModDB page.)
Installation: simply extract the archive and copy the files to your CoC folder. In order to make sure the pack doesn't clash with other addons, it's best to perform a clean install on a fresh version of CoC 1.4.22.
Overview: the aim of my mod pack is to create an experience that is more realistic, immersive and dynamic than the vanilla game. The entire HUD and any sort of indicators have been completely removed - if you die suddenly, out of the blue, chances are, you have either bled out, starved to death, or died to radiation poisoning. :P Make sure you learn how to stay attentive about your status. NPC beeps and target identification through binoculars have also been removed, which means you will have to rely on your senses and game knowledge when it comes to dealing with the occupants of the Zone. Weapon (and armor) variety is now broader thanks to Arsenal Overhaul (and the Outfit Addon), and the Warfighter addon makes sure that weapon damage is more realistic. (Headshots or bust. :P) DoctorX's addons and the Warfare mod make the game a lot more dynamic, with a lot of random stuff happening throughout every different playthrough. (Faction behaviour will be a lot more active and their relations a lot more dynamic, for example.) Thanks to Warfare, you can now right click friendly squads on your map and issue orders to them (by right clicking objectives after a squad has been selected). If you don't want to worry about squad management, just leave them to do their work passively. The game should look and sound a lot better in general. (I have excluded the thick/tall grass option from Absolute Nature as it can be quite taxing, but if your rig can handle it, you can install it yourself.) You cannot run around with tons of guns and supplies anymore, but you can loot money from corpses now. This should make the game a bit more realistic without requiring a lot of time and trading to afford proper gear. In general, the Zone should feel a lot more varied and immersive overall.
The pack contains the following addons:
- Absolute Nature (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/absolute-nature-for-coc)
- Absolute Structures (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/absolute-structures-coc)
- AO 3.1 (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/arsenal-overhaul)
- AO old step sounds (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/arsenal-overhaul-step-sounds-old-version)
- Outfit addon (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/outfit-addon-coc)
- New menu music (http://www.moddb.com/games/stalker-call-of-pripyat/addons/new-menu-music-for-call-of-chernobyl) [tweaked]
- Gnomus scopes for AO3 (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/dodge-these-gnomus-scopes-coc-stcop)
- Warfighter (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/warfighter)
- Sound restoration (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/sound-restoration-1422) [partly only]
- Adjusted zoom levels (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/adjusted-zoom-levels)
- DoctorX questlines (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/doctorx-questlines)
- DoctorX faction relations (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/doctorx-faction-relations)
- DoctorX dynamic faction relations (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/doctorx-dynamic-faction-relations)
- Smurth's dynamic hud (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/smurths-dynamic-hudv2151410aoowrstcopoa)
- Warfare (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/warfare)
- Loot money (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/lootmoney-for-coc-14)
- NanoCell inventory (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/nanocell-inventory-for-coc-14)
- Faction + Oldschool playlist (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/factions-playlists-oldschool-add-on) [tweaked]
- Quiet Binoculars http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/call-of-chernobyl-quiet-binoculars) [adjusted for AO3]
Some other tweaks include:
- Max carry weight is now 35 kgs. (You will drain your stamina almost instantly once you exceed it.) You will be unable to move once you reach 50 kgs. (Both can be remedied with upgrades, artifacts, and consumables, obviously.)
- Most on-screen prompts have been removed (item usage, weapon jam, too overloaded to continue, etc.) (I'm not sure if Smurth's Hud was supposed to remove them, but I kept seeing them even after installing it.)
- Reload DoF has been removed.
- Radio tracks from the faction playlist addon have been normalized (their volume levels should be closer to each other, no more single tracks blasting from the radio) and their attenuation fixed. I have also removed every track that I felt didn't belong to the game. (No tracks with English lyrics, etc.) Some of it comes down to personal preference, so if you don't like it, feel free to install a different radio mod.
- New main menu music volume has been reduced slightly.
- NPC beeps have been completely removed (through Smurth's Hud addon).
- I have added large address header to the .exe file. This should enable systems with more than 2GBs of ram to utilize it properly. If you have less than 2 gigs of ram or are running the game on an 32bit system, don't overwrite the original .exe file with the one included in the archive. (To be honest, I'm not sure if the patch is needed for CoC and/or Win10 - I've still managed to run into memory errors after using it -, but I figured it can't hurt.)
Recommended settings:
- FoV should be set to 83 (if you plan on using different FoV, make sure you apply the corresponding version of the Adjusted zoom levels addon).
- Consumable animations should be set to 'full' for complete immersion.
- Draw crosshair should be disabled. (!)
- Show tracers should be disabled.
- Weapon overheating should be enabled, but the heat HUD bar should be set to 'off'.
- The rest (eg. delayed repairs, enhanced shot effects, dynamic mask HUD, sleep deprivation) is up to you, depending on the level of immersion you want to achieve.
- Master difficulty (duh).
- For optimal performance, you should set the process priority for XrEngine.exe to 'high' in task manager. (Download Prio https://www.prnwatch.com/prio/ to make sure it stays that way even when you close and start the game again later.) I heard that enabling every core except the first one for the XrEngine (with multicore CPUs) also helps with the performance, but don't take it for granted.
- If you want a full visual upgrade, you should also install Toshka's HD models (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/toska-hd). I have omitted it so that I can keep the pack relatively lightweight. Some of the models (a few neutral NPCs and a Duty model) are broken when used with my pack (might be some clash with the Outfits addon). To fix it, download this archive, extract it, and replace your gamedata/meshes/actors folder's contents with it. (Do not merge the folders, delete the original first and then copy the extracted archive's contents there.) https://mega.nz/#!tyZwFRYT!A9YOYV5KehORTDWrFixhudRLyphkBCVpgFiIXpfpvmI If you still run into other models with weird shading, please let me know. (Optimally with some details or a screenshot.) Thank you!
- In case you have a solid rig, bring up the console in-game (by using the ' key), and type in r__detail_radius 250 (note the double _). If you have troubles finding the correct _ symbol on your keyboard, just type in r and scroll down until you find the command. This will increase grass distance at the cost of some performance.
Known issues:
- When eating Tourist's Breakfast, the animation plays improperly. (Not a big issue, it's just that the can doesn't open.) I tried messing around with the AO3 patch and the original backup animation included in Smurth's mod - and their combination -, but it still persists. It could be that that is the intended animation for the addon, not sure. If you know how to fix it (or at least how to replace it with the default animation), please let me know.
- Grenade priming indicator (when holding down RMB) is still visible - let me know if you have a fix for that.
- Some random crashes from time to time (to be expected from the game itself), for example when an NPC wanted me to give him some vodka as a quest. The game seems relatively stable otherwise. (Well, as stable as a Stalker game can be. :P)
- The game proper shat itself once when I started a new game before quitting the game completely. I got some white flashes on the screen and loading other saves made it worse. Quitting the game and reloading my save fixed the issue.
- The duty megaphone voices ('deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants', etc.) and the arena fight crowd sounds are in English - if someone has a suggestion as to how to replace these sounds with their Russian counterparts, it would be more than appreciated. (Update: found a solution since, fix at the end of the post!)
- Actor breathing sound when running out of stamina without a helmet is missing. I'm not sure what caused it (could be a feature of the Smurth's Hud addon), but I personally don't really mind it. (Quite the opposite, since it was clipped badly to begin with).
- Clicking the Guide menu in the PDA leads to a CTD. Just don't click it, you don't need it anyway. ;)
- The repair button at mechanics looks a bit bugged (no repair text on it), but it functions as it should.
Let me know if you've enjoyed playing with the pack or if you ran into any issues!
Good hunting, Stalkers!
Update: I have since updated the weapon files with the damage values from the smarch config addon. (http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/smarch-config-for-arsenal-overhaul) Only the damage/piercing values have been included. (Weapon damage and piercing is now dependent on ammunition. Damage values have also been increased overall.) If you want to use the new values, extract the following archive into your gamedata/config/weapon folder. (Overwrite the old files.) https://mega.nz/#!0mRCCYjS!eGwtqzCGqWMFs6tBLqy0BNCUw9awabzkAbp5kF8B4Cw Perfect complementary changes to use with the Warfighter mod, just be prepared for more gruesome fights and getting one-shot even more frequently by enemies. ;)
Update 2: Figured out how to replace the Duty megaphone and arena sounds. Extract the following archive and merge it with your gamedata folder. https://mega.nz/#!JuhwFaRa!JhoiM0jUJRUjLDxtQdSi8w6upezt_20wg24zVqxELBk

Radios Galore is a mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, created by PYP.
Description:
This project enhances radios in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl mod.
This isn't your ordinary playlist mod. What does this mod do that others don't currently do, you might ask? Well, simple. It adds in:
1. More radios (as in more places music will play from)
2. A LOT of sound tracks, this includes xenotekno's Factions Playlists - Oldschool Add-on, so no need to download that, 216 tracks (Including Factions Playlists - Oldschool Add-on) as of V3.8
3. Editing for adding/removing songs is MUCH easier than it was before, now any radio is named after the smart_terrain it is in, so say if you want to change some songs in the monolith radio, go to [pri_monolith_radio] and delete the tracks from there. (Playlists are located in gamedataconfigspluginsradio_music.ltx and the individual tracks are located in gamedatasoundsradio)
4. Several Tracks converted by me that are safe to play by streamers and people who want to record.
5. More of an addition to 4, but i picked out alot of songs from Anonguy's CoCMod2.1 that stalkers played on guitars and merged a bunch of them together into six files, these are also just covers so they are safe for streamers and people who record.
~~NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANYTHING THAT REPLACES THE all.spawn, unless either me or the other creator makes a compatibility patch for it.~~
Now where exactly are the radios? Here's the levels with radios in initial release:
1. Cordon - Sid's Bunker (V)
2. Garbage - At the Depot
3. Darkscape - Sawmill (NW of Gas Station)
Call Of Chernobyl Addons Overwriting Video
4. Dark Valley - Bandit Base (V)
5. Truck Cemetery - NE Checkpoint into Truck Cemetery (With the buildings you can go into)
6. Yantar - In the Science Lab
7. Dead City - At Merc Base
8. Bar - In the Bar, duh. (V)
9. Military Warehouses - Freedom Base
10. Agroprom - Military Base (V)
11. Pripyat Plaza - Monolith Base
12. Swamps - Clear Sky Base (V)
13. Red Forest - Red Forester area (V)
14. Jupiter - Yanov Station
15. Zaton - Skadovsk
The V means it was in vanilla fyi, so 9 new radios in total as of right now.
